Welcome
Hi, I’m Cassandra—a published poet and illustrator, writer, and visionary creative strategist. I specialize in supporting individuals with a mission to improve the world, as well as mission-driven nonprofits and businesses. I help the helpers thrive by clarifying vision, strengthening narrative, and building creative and strategic foundations that ignite meaningful work and allow it to grow sustainably. My services include writing and editing, essay writing and application support, grant writing, storytelling and content strategy, branding and visual identity, UX/UI design, web projects, business coaching, creative projects, and leading creative classes and workshops—all offered with equal attention to heart, clarity, and execution.
I was born in Massachusetts, where my love of reading, writing, and art began early. In the mid-1980s, my grandmother gave me my first journal, which quickly became a lifelong companion—filled with poetry, observations, sketches, and questions about the world. That practice of noticing and creating has shaped my work ever since. Alongside writing and visual art, I’ve always felt deeply connected to the natural world—its rhythms, symbolism, and quiet intelligence.
I’ve lived and worked in California, Hawaii, Alaska, Europe, and Australia, and these places deeply influenced how I see and create. Through this movement, I became especially interested in the role art plays in community vitality—how storytelling, visual language, and creative expression can restore voice, cohesion, and meaning. This perspective informs my collaborations with artists, healers, educators, and mission-driven organizations.
Before focusing fully on creative work, I spent ten years as a certified birth doula and massage practitioner. That experience shaped how I hold complexity, support people through transition, and translate embodied experience into language. I’ve also served as an advocate for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence, facilitating writing spaces that center safety, agency, and collective reflection.
At the heart of my practice is the belief that creativity is a tool for reflection and transformation. I draw on metaphor, pattern, and symbolic language—threads found in poetry, philosophy, astrology, metaphysics, and indigenous storytelling—to help clients create work that is clear, grounded, and deeply human.
If you’re working toward a more just, connected, and thoughtful world—and want a collaborator who can help your work communicate, sustain, and expand—I’d love to work with you.

My books
In 2019, I had the honor of being contracted to illustrate "Basho’s Haiku Journeys," a biographical children’s picture book that brings to life the world of Matsuo Basho, the renowned poet of Japan's Edo period. Authored by Freeman Ng and published by Stone Bridge Press, this book showcases the haiku form and immerses young readers in a rich cultural experience. I take great pride in its recognition as a recipient of the 2021 Northern Lights Book Award and its positive review from Kirkus Reviews, one of the most respected book review organizations in the literary world. The journey of illustrating this book with hand-painted scenes was rewarding, making Basho's poetic journey accessible to a new generation.
In 2021, I published my first poetry collection, Hot Thicket (Black Lawrence Press), a culmination of a lifelong dream. Hot Thicket provides a contemplative exploration of interpersonal and societal wildfires, where truth emerges delicately through tender botanical imagery, with the intricate networks of mycelium symbolizing our capacity to feel and heal even the most challenging patterns.
At present, I am in the process of writing my third book, a lyric essay that focuses on intergenerational trauma and the journey toward recovery.
